This is why we want to inspire and positively surprise you over and over again. Innovative thinking is essential at Curtis, just like a morning cup of coffee is a must for many people. At our high-performance production facility in Montebello, California, we use state-of-the-art technology to develop product solutions that are constantly improving, and are increasingly economical and versatile. Inventiveness and a pioneering role have a long tradition with us: in the 1990s, for example, Curtis launched the Curtis ADS (Advanced Digital System), the first coffee brewing machine with full digital controls.

Clever ideas pay off

Despite our innovative spirit, we have never lost sight of our customers’ needs. This is why the history of Curtis is above all a history of success: after Wilbur Curtis founded the company in Hollywood in 1941, it had to move to much larger production facilities just five years later.

With the “Low Boy” coffee urn, we achieved our first product milestone in 1955. This was followed by several more, such as the DB-12 decanter in 1969, the RU series of automatic coffee urns in 1971 and the Gemini Satellite Brewing System in 1980 – an industry first that combined the speed of a coffee machine with the quality of an urn, and also allowed for the creation of separate coffee stations.

In 2000, the company and its production facility had to be relocated again. Since then, our headquarters have been based in Montebello, California, where we continue to manufacture our machines with the utmost precision and care.
